I thought I’d end this week as it began. Mardi Gras Indians. Super Sunday. Portraits. Great Faces. Colorful Suits.

And, Tomorrow? Something different. Maybe something with a little spring in the air. We’ll see.

  1. Something like those. Indian suits (not costumes) are made to honor American Indians — mostly Cherokee and Seminole tribes. The three carnivals — Venice, Rio and here — are based on jesters. I’m not sure how long it takes to make the costumes worn in Venice or Rio but around here Mardi Gras Indians suits take fully a year to make by hand at home. I think, In Venice anyway, you can have whatever you want made for you by a tailor.
