As promised. A move toward nature photography. The thing to know about me is that I’m not really a nature photographer. There are guys who do this really well. They travel all over the place. They climb mountains. They swim in oceans. They chase pictures to the literal ends of the earth. I’m not those guys. My nature photographic work is just an extension of how I see. I could take a picture in my yard. Across the street. Somewhere in my neighborhood. Down the road. In another state. Or, another country. For me, pictures are where you find them. Nothing more complicated than that.
If the truth be told, I’m really a homebody. I travel a lot. But, you have to make me. I’m not one of those people who gets excited by the idea of taking a trip somewhere.
Let this be a lesson to some of you. I have friends who just can’t seem to take a picture unless the travel some place far. Don’t do that. Put your camera over your shoulder and take a walk in your neighborhood. You’ll be amazed at what you might see.
This picture. I’m not gonna lie. This is the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. I just have to wait for it to start to glow. But there is a trick to viewing this one. OPEN IT UP REALLY BIG. It looks like an old school Hawaiian shirt.
