I walked around to the back door.
I found a tire used as a back door on 422. You remember, the abandoned gas station located on Washington Street, in Central City, New Orleans. The one whose front looks like Christmas. All red and green. With old tires stacked in front. Tires seem to be a recurring theme at this place.
This is the back side. Of 422. Mostly the picture is just green. It’s only a couple of weeks old. Read that again. A couple of weeks old.
While most of you don’t have any leaves on the trees, this is what it looks like in New Orleans. Lots of vibrant green. There are still leaves on a lot of trees that should have lost their leaves. And, near 80 degree high temperatures. This may seem great to some of you. But we are less than two weeks away from Christmas. It doesn’t seem like the Christmas Season. It doesn’t feel like the Christmas Season. It’s too warm. Grumble, grumble, grumble…
And, this year we rush from one season almost immediately into the next. Christmas. New Year. Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras comes early. Very early. Tuesday, February 9th. Might as well leave the Christmas decorations up and just spray paint purple, green and gold right over the red and green of Christmas. That seems like a New Orleans thing to do. The over spray will add nice contrasting highlights to the white paint of the house.
The picture. Find it. Frame it. Shoot it. Add a little more color and glow in post production and away we go.
