Sometimes when I’m on my way from one place to another or when I’m waiting for something to happen, I see stuff. No. I don’t mean like stuff that isn’t there. I mean details and little things that I might not notice if I was passing through in a car.
This is a collection of those things.
Mardi Gras beads. Pennies and a flag at a cemetery. The remains of a Confederate flag on a Confederate general’s tomb. Chairs stacked up infront of a small neighborhood business. Space alien-like graffiti.
Just stuff. But, there is something important about it all, at least in how I relate to it. I know that if I didn’t get out of my car and walk a little, I’d never notice these things. For certain, walking is a good way to start seeing if you are convinced you’ve hit a wall. It will break through photographer’s blocks easily and quickly. It’s head clearing. And, it gets you ready to take a picture of the thing that you originally came to photograph.
